Ambrose McDermott

Ambrose McDermott has been Squid Media Ireland’s resident cinematographer and sometime editor since its inception and is now the company’s main producer.

Ambrose grew up in the folklore-steeped countryside of the Cooley Peninsula and he developed an interest in filmmaking in his teenage years. In 2005, he acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia from Dundalk Institute of Technology and has been involved with Squid Media Ireland from 2006, eventually going full time into the company in 2008.

Among his credits are the short film The Hollow Girl, for which he was nominated for Best Editing and Best Cinematography, and the feature film Shackled, which was completed in 2010.
